Changes to Post-16 Qualifications

From 2027, the government is introducing changes to some post-16 qualifications in England.

These changes will be introduced gradually over the next few years, so you may start to see new qualifications, updated courses and different qualification names.

As these changes are introduced, some colleges, sixth forms and training providers may update their courses and qualifications. They will help you understand these changes and what they mean for your next steps.

If you’re unsure about a course or qualification, speak to your school’s careers adviser or contact the provider directly. Their website and open events will have the latest information.

Want to understand what these changes mean for you? Watch the Department for Education’s short video to learn more about the changes to post-16 qualifications.
